Multiple option deals

Tuesday, July 12, 2011

Giving several options to your buyer to choose from is generally a good idea, provided the number of options is not overwhelming. It makes people feel "in control" and leaves more satisfaction after the purchase.

Often several options come naturally with the deal. For example, the kind of haircut (man, woman, child), the color of iPad (black/white), the date of the event (out of the, say, five available dates), the size of a t-shirt (L, XL, XXL), and so on.

And with Getsocio recently added "Products" feature each deal can have one or many products.

Promocodes

Monday, July 11, 2011

A daily deal site is all about discounts. Getting a service at half off the usual price – what could be better? The answer is, of course, getting even deeper discount.

And here come promotional codes. Whatever "unbeatable" price you offer for the deal, you may also offer a few more percent discount on the top of it by issuing a promocode.

On Getsocio you can create a promotional code, which can be applied to any deal in a given timespan. Then give the code to existing or potential customers via any kind of marketing campaign, the more viral one, the better.

See promotional codes guide for details.

More customization for categories and locations

Friday, June 3, 2011

Two weeks ago we have added the categories functionality helping to systemize the deals for users not to get lost in the variety of deals offered. A couple of days back we added two customization options for categories to make user experience even more comprehensive: categories can be shown on the side bar, letting users to switch between the categories with one click without a need to scroll back to the top and click the drop-down menu, and in the tree view, with "child" categories shown beneath the "parent" one.

Newsletter subscription double opt-in

Tuesday, May 31, 2011

Email newsletter is the most popular way to inform users about new daily-deals. But with anti-spam filter rules getting more and more strict, it becomes a challenge to prove that your newsletter is legitimate, and each recipient was actually subscribed to it.

For Getsocio daily deal newsletter we have added an optional "double opt-in" mode. It can be enabled via "Confirm subscription" toggle in "Email" block on the "Settings" page. When enabled, each new subscriber will have to click a link in the email to confirm they actually want to receive the newsletter. And if they do not click, they will not be bothered by email again.

While this option is off by default, it may be reasonable to enable it on your site to be sure that your subscribers are indeed happy to receive your newsletter.
