Staff user role

Thursday, February 2, 2012

Great news! Staff user role is now available.

We are back on the track from upgrading Getsocio platform to Rails 3 and moving forward with implementing new features. The first release of sub-admin functionality has been rolled out.

With the time going your daily deal site grows and the amount of deals reaches the number hard to be handled with a single pair of hands. Sooner or later you'll need to hire more people to help you run your site.

Before the only way to grant permission to your employees to manage deals was to promote them to site admins. Now you get fine-grained tools to administrate the site. You may grant admin permission to your business partners, CEO or CTO, while sales reps, content managers and others can be promoted to Staff and have access to deals only.

Rails 3

Monday, January 16, 2012

Getsocio is built on Ruby on Rails software platform. This platform is very dynamic and evolves quite fast to keep pace with the modern web.

Over last few months our engineers were working behind the scenes on a significant upgrade: we updated Getsocio from "Rails 2" to "Rails 3". This week the work has been finished and now Getsocio platform is running on Rails 3.

What does it mean for our users?

While the upgrade from Rails 2 to Rails 3 does not bring any new features, it is crucial to keep Getsocio platform up-to-date, making sure it is future-proof and robust. Modern technology allows us to keep the code in a good shape, easy to maintain and extend.

We were a bit slow on new features over last few months due to the volume of effort the upgrade took us. But the hardest part is over now and the future is bright. In the upcoming months we will get back to adding new features, as outlined in our new year promise.

Deal form got new look

Wednesday, December 21, 2011

With lots of features added over time, the deal form started showing its age. It became large, clunky, overloaded with options, tweaks and settings.

And here comes the new streamlined and fancy deal form to be the steering wheel of your daily-deal flagman furrowing the seas of social commerce.
