New email design and custom newsletter feature

Tuesday, August 23, 2011

We all know how important is the newsletter for a daily deal site, being its major traffic driver and the main connecting link between the site and its subscribers. You might have already noticed our new eye-candy design of email template and have stumbled upon the Newsletters page in the Admin section. If not, these two newly rolled out features are definitely worth checking out.

Email template now has the logo of your site, date and time in the header and a link to "contact_us" form in the footer, which releases you from the necessity to buy mail@yoursite.com email address. Needless to say that all wording can be changed via Messages in Admin section. A top of that you can always check the newsletter before it has been sent out by using "Email preview" link available on a saved deal next to "Edit" and "Orders".

Multiple option deals

Tuesday, July 12, 2011

Giving several options to your buyer to choose from is generally a good idea, provided the number of options is not overwhelming. It makes people feel "in control" and leaves more satisfaction after the purchase.

Often several options come naturally with the deal. For example, the kind of haircut (man, woman, child), the color of iPad (black/white), the date of the event (out of the, say, five available dates), the size of a t-shirt (L, XL, XXL), and so on.

And with Getsocio recently added "Products" feature each deal can have one or many products.

Manipulating purchase numbers

Wednesday, May 25, 2011

Most of people tend to "follow the crowd" in various ways, and online shopping is not an exception. So when a new daily deal is posted, many potential buyers will hesitate seeing "zero bought" counter. And even replacing the dreaded zero with more encouraging "be the first to buy" is of little help. Being the first requires a significant mental effort, a courage.

Deal categories

Thursday, May 19, 2011

Initially all the deals on Getsocio-powered sites were grouped by location (city). Recently we added another way to organize deals – categories

Now you can have multiple categories (and subcategories) on your daily-deal site. You may create any category, for example, "Food" or "Wine" or "Restaurants", "Massages" or "Beauty", "Theaters" or "Shows", or even more specific ones, like "Gadgets", "Home decoration", "Gold fish aquariums", whatever.

Categories are optional, so if you do not need them they will not get in your way.

Organizing your daily-deals by categories is a great way to further tailor your offers to each particular user. And your site visitors will be able to subscribe for updates in any particular category they are interested in.
